  1. Install the All-in-One WP Migration Plugin in WordPress
    From the lesson

“In this lesson, you'll learn what moving a WordPress site really involves, and meet the plugin that does it for you. First, the database. It holds your posts, pages, settings and user accounts. Second, the files: your images and other uploads, your theme, and your plugins. Move one without the other, and the site breaks. So why can't you just copy everything across?” Watch the full lesson →

  2. Export Your WordPress Site to a File with All-in-One WP Migration
    From the lesson

“In this lesson, you'll export a complete copy of your site to a single file, and see what's inside it. First, you choose what goes into the file. Then you pack it up and download it. And you'll know what's inside it, and where to keep it. Here's the plan. First, the search and replace row, and why you'll usually leave it empty.” Watch the full lesson →

  3. Import a WordPress Site from a File and Handle Upload Size Limits
    From the lesson

“In this lesson, you'll learn the Import screen, the free version's size limit, and what to do right after an import. First, the plugin has to be installed on the new site too. Then you upload the file from your computer. And the plugin replaces the content and fixes the addresses. One thing decides whether a free import will work: the upload limit.” Watch the full lesson →

  4. Create, Label and Download WordPress Backups with All-in-One WP Migration
    From the lesson

“In this lesson, you'll make and manage backups, see what the free version can and can't restore, and learn which tool to reach for. You can make a snapshot in one click, before a risky change. You can label it, download it, and delete old ones. Restoring from this screen, and scheduling, are paid extras. Here's the plan. First, create a backup and label it.” Watch the full lesson →

This All-in-One WP Migration tutorial shows you the simplest way to move a WordPress site: pack the whole thing into one file, then unpack it somewhere else. You'll export a site, see how importing works, and make backups you can download and keep. In under twenty minutes you'll know what the free plugin does well and where it stops.

What you'll learn

Moving a WordPress site is harder than copying files, because your site's addresses are stored inside its database. All-in-One WP Migration takes care of that for you, which is why so many people use it to change hosts or copy a site to a new domain. This course explains what a site is made of, walks through the Export screen and the options worth leaving alone, and shows the Import screen, including the upload size limit you'll meet in the free version. It finishes with the Backups tab and a plain comparison with UpdraftPlus and Duplicator, so you use the right tool for each job.

Who this course is for

This is for site owners and beginners who need to move a WordPress site to a new host or domain, or want a downloadable copy of their site before a big change. No technical background is needed. If you want automatic, scheduled backups instead, our free UpdraftPlus course covers that.

Frequently asked questions

Is All-in-One WP Migration free?
Yes. The free plugin on WordPress.org exports and backs up your whole site, and it is what this course uses. Paid extensions lift the import size limit and add one-click restore; the course shows exactly where the free version stops so you are not surprised halfway through a move.
Why does my import stop with a file size error?
The free version can only import a file up to the upload limit your server allows. Lesson 3 shows the real limit message, what it means, and the honest options when your site's export file is bigger than that.
Should I use All-in-One WP Migration or UpdraftPlus for backups?
They do different jobs. All-in-One WP Migration is the simplest way to move a site from one WordPress dashboard to another. UpdraftPlus is the scheduled safety net that backs up automatically. The last lesson helps you pick the right tool for each job.
