Wordpress 3.9 Steps it up a notch!

Wordpress 3.9 has alot of new features, but very few are as anticipated as the new widget preview feature that is included in the wordpress theme customizer menu.  I took a sneak peek at the development build to see what was under the hood.  Officially, wordpress 3.9 should be coming out on April 16th, but here is a sneak peek. In 3.9, go to appearance >> customize. 3_9_menu Wordpress 3.9 navigation - very much like the 3.8 we've come to know and love.   Once you click you should see the following:

Wordpress 3.9 lets you add widgets from the configuration screen.

3_9_add_widgets You should now see some additional items on the left menu,  including widgets.  From this view, you'll be able to see how widgets will look, before you commit them to your site.  You can also change titles, re-arrange the order and surprise! Add a widget right from the customize menu.  This is a great improvement over the previous customize menu, which forced you to go to another area in order to configure widgets: This should speed up your time modifying your wordpress site, because it enables you to configure your sidebars without having to go to an additional screen.  Also by being able to preview behind the scenes, you get a glimpse of what your visitors might see without having to commit to changes.  That's always a good thing. Kudos to the Wordpress team for making a great tool even more useful!
