Everyone has some experience that would be useful to someone else.  There are an amazing variety of subjects that people are truly interested in.  Podcasting allows you to get 15 minutes to an hour of potential customer’s time at a cost that can’t be beat.  Alot of businesses are utilizing WordPress to provide their customers in depth information about their products and services.

What is a podcast?

According to Google a podcast is “a digital audio file made available on the Internet for downloading to a computer or portable media player, typically available as a series, new installments of which can be received by subscribers Podcasting with WordPressautomatically.

There are tons of articles and books that discuss the benefits of podcasting for business, but some businesses aren’t yet including their podcasts in their overall web strategy.  WordPress has support for .mp3 files that mostcomputers, audio players, and phones recognize.  That means your customers can hear your message practically anywhere they are.  The great thing about podcasting is that you can literally have people tuning in to your content at specified intervals asking to hear more of your advice.

What are some of the options?

WordPress Podcasting Options are impressive

There are almost 100 plugins on WordPress.org that are geared toward podcasting on WordPress.  Blubrry Power Press is the most popular and is very feature packed for a free plugin.

  • iTunes and Google Play support
  • HTML5 media player (makes it more compatible with alot of devices)
  • Subscribe page and Subscribe Widget will help people follow your message
  • Media Statistics
  • .. much more

Examples?

How about a real estate agent giving bi-weekly talks about the housing market, tips for new buyers and a couple of minutes on a handful of properties she’s selling?

A law office giving practical everyday advice to the public about how the law affects them in non-legalese.

A childcare center giving advice to new parents and product reviews for baby/child items.

Giving advice to non-profits on how they can increase donor giving ,(currently something one of my clients does).

Don’t let your imagination stop you.  If you have clips of presentations, etc.. that might be of interest to a segment of your customers,(or potential customers), make it available to them!
